Housekeeping

Apex Maids helps households across Singapore hire a domestic helper for housekeeping, including cleaning, laundry, ironing, linen and household marketing. Tell us your home size, daily routine and any cooking, child-care, elderly-support or pet duties that share the workload. Review each candidate's previous experience in her biodata and discuss the work during a video interview before deciding. Candidate experience and availability vary; a housekeeping placement should match the whole household brief.

For a structured comparison, use the housekeeping interview checklist. It covers a workable routine, relevant home size and equipment that needs instruction.
Tell us the size of your home, how many people live in it, whether anyone is home during the day, and how you like things done. Households that want a specific standard — ironed bedsheets, a particular way of handling the kitchen — should say so upfront. It is far easier to match on that at the shortlist stage than to correct it three months in.
Also tell us about stairs, pets, and whether you expect window or ceiling-fan cleaning. Working at height is a safety issue with rules attached, and it is better settled before she starts.
Most Singapore households want housekeeping plus something else — cooking, a child, an elderly parent, a dog. That combination is the real brief, and it changes who fits. A helper who is excellent with a newborn may not be the one you want managing a large house on her own. See cooking, child care, elderly care and pet care.
List the meals needed each day alongside cleaning, laundry and other duties. Include how many people eat at home, the size of the property and the tasks that need doing at the same time. Compare the candidate's recorded duties with that combined brief, then use the video interview to discuss a realistic daily routine. A willingness to clean or cook is not the same as previous experience doing both for a similar household.
Match the cleaning routine, home size and other household duties to the individual candidate.
Questions
Often yes, but say so before shortlisting. Cooking ability varies a lot and is worth testing at the interview — ask what she cooks at home and what she has cooked for previous employers.
There are MOM safety rules on working at height for foreign domestic workers, including restrictions on cleaning the exterior of windows above the ground floor. We will explain what is and is not permitted before she starts.
Realistically a few weeks. A written routine for the first month — what happens on which day — shortens it considerably and prevents most early misunderstandings.
